Si congelas el agua, se convierte en hielo.

·         If I work too much, I get tired. 
Si trabajo demasiado, me canso.

·         If I have time, I usually go to the movies.
Si tengo tiempo, generalmente voy al cine.

·         If she eats hamburgers, she gets an allergy.
Si ella come hamburguesas, le da alergia.

·         If they come here, they always bring a present.
Si ellos vienen aquí, siempre traen un regalo.

·         If she doesn't know the answer, she keeps silent.
Si ella no sabe la respuesta, se mantiene en silencio.

·         If we don't go out on Saturdays, we rent a video and stay home.
Si no salimos los sábados, alquilamos un video y nos quedamos en casa.

Uso
Este condicional se utiliza para  hablar de situaciones que siempre son verdaderas, que siempre ocurren.

Estas verdades pueden ser hechos o verdades científicas, biológicas o lógicas.

Considera las siguientes situaciones:

–If I heat water to 100 degrees Celsius, it boils. (Si caliento agua a 100 grados centígrados, hierve)

–If I run for 4 hours, I get thirsty. (Si corro durante 4 horas, me da sed)

Estructura
La estructura del condicional cero se forma utilizando en las dos oraciones el presente simple; observa:

If clause:
If you heat ice, (Si caliento hielo,)

Main clause:
It melts (se derrite) 

Los dos verbos subrayados (“heat” y “melt”) utilizan el presente simple en las formas de afirmativo, negativo o interrogativo.

Verbo modal CAN

También es posible utilizar el verbo modal CAN (poder) en el condicional cero:

–If she doesn’t attend class, she can email the teacher. (Si ella no asiste a clase, ella puede enviarle un email al profesor o profesora).
